Politics

(Specifically Mileth and Rucesion)
For this example guide we will assume you're running for Respected Citizen (1).

Mentor

Before you can seek office you must have mentored somebody.
This will take a week and you can't start until it's done.

Seeking Office

Once you have mentored somebody visit your town's Commons and speak to ___ (Mileth) or ___ (Rucesion).
Click the Seek Office button and then select Respected Citizen.
You'll need to be a Respected Citizen at least once before you can run for anything else.
Check your legend for a brown mark saying that you're attempting to become Respected Citizen to make sure you have started, then begin to collect your clout.

Clout Farming

Different offices will require different amounts of clout. for Respected Citizen we will need 5.
You can ask friends, guildies, or strangers for their vote, or you could vote for yourself on a second account. Aislings may vote once per 24 hours.
Having a second account or a friend with multiple voting characters will help to skip the annoying task of having to ask individual people for a single vote at a time.

Sponsorship

In addition to your votes you'll need to be sponsored by an active official.
In a recent update Knights are now also able to sponsor you.

Taking Office

It is important to note that for positions other than Respected Citizen you may need to do an exam before taking office. Speak to a person of an equal or higher position to check if you need to do an exam.
For Respected Citizen you may return to the npc in the Commons and Seek office again.
Congratulations on becoming a Respected Citizen!
You can seek your next office and begin collecting votes but can't take it until this current term expires.

I just want Throw

That's fine but you're going to have to play along for a little while.
It's unfair that you have to do this to learn Throw but it is what it is.
Play by the book and you'll be free in no time.
