Contests

Written by Bee
For those interested in hosting a guild, higher advancement than priest within Temuairan religions, or teaching classes, you will need to win an award from a contest. First you must receive 5 educated marks from attending classes. Once you have achieved this, you will need to choose your submission topic.

The topics are Art, History, Literature, Lore, Philosophy, and Persona. Please note that Persona award winners may not host classes. Your contest piece must be focused on the world of Dark Ages, it may not be OOC (Out of Character). There is also a number of guidelines and rules for contest applicants, which can be found on the board outside of the Mileth College's Library. An important one to note is that you may not enter a contest if you have been jailed or arrested more than once, so if you have goals of becoming a noble you better keep your nose clean!

Once you've chosen your topic and are ready to proceed, I recommend speaking with the contest host, previous winners, and even friends to perfect your work. Hosts and previous winners can be very helpful with giving tips and advice for winning a high award.

There are four ranks of awards, from highest to lowest they are; Aisling, Kingdom, Village, and Clave. Higher ranks award different abilities. For example, winning an Aisling award gains the ability to achieve the rank of Cleric or High Priest within a religion. The only award which does not grant perks is that of Clave. Clave winners may not host a guild, teach a class, or really do much of anything. Sorry, Clave winners.

Once you feel that your work is perfected and ready to share, alert the host and have them approve your work. It will need to be uploaded online somewhere for viewing, and once submitted it cannot be changed, so make sure you are completely satisfied!
After the piece has been submitted the voting process begins. You will need to ask the nobles (previous award winners) you know to enter the voting hall to judge your piece. The word contest can be misleading here, because you are not judged against any others, simply for your single piece. The voting period will be a minimum of one double moon (one week), but in the event that it has not received enough votes in that time the voting period may be extended. Be sure to ask your noble friends and neighbours politely to vote! Once voting has ended all that's left is the wait for final judgement from the Mundanes, which can take anywhere from a few days to one deoch (fourty-five days).

Once you have received word from the contest host, you may notice a tentative mark on your legend. You will now be able to speak to a correlating NPC to receive your permanent visible mark. The table below will guide you in the right direction. Once you've spoken to them you will officially be recognized as a Noble, and will be awarded a small amount of gold, experience, and for those who hold political office, some clout! Now you may carry on with whatever Noble goals you have planned!
