Elements

Almost every creature you encounter will have an offensive and defensive element. By changing your necklace and belt you can change your own offensive and defensive element. The first four basic elements are Fire, Wind, Earth and Water.

Fire beats Wind, Wind beats Earth, Earth beats Water, and Water beats Fire.

At a later level there are two additional Elements; Light and Dark.
Only Light beats Dark, and Only Dark beats Light.
Dark also beats Wind, Earth, Water and Fire.

Try to always use a variant of a Dark Belt or a Light Belt , as this will provide maximum protection against the four basic elements. Just be careful when being hit by Light and Dark damage.

* Using the correct element will increase your damage by 136%
* Using Dark on Fire, Water, Wind, or Earth will increase your damage by 100%
* Using the wrong element will reduce your damage by 80%

Attacking from behind a monster deals x2.5 damage
Attacking from the side of a monster deals x2 damage

Some classes can read the defensive elements of monsters allowing you to use the direct attack element and deal greater damage. If you are unsure use a dark necklace.

With the descovery of Medenia came another 2 elements; Nature and Metal

Nature is an amplified form of Wind. It will deal more damage to Earth, but will take more damage from Fire.
Metal is an amplified form of Fire. It will deal more damage to Wind, but will take more damage from Water.
* Metal does not do increased damage against nature


Monks, Warriors and Rogues can sense defense elements using Martial Awareness, Combat Sense, and Study Creature.
